The national student safety survey, released by Universities Australia on Wednesday, found one in 20 students had been sexually assaulted since starting university and one in six had been sexually harassed. Some members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) have demanded that the kits be withdrawn and an apology offered to the health workers. One BJP state legislator, Chitra Kishor Wagh, said the Maharashtra government, which introduced the kit, "has lost its mind". Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed a jump in the government's preferred measure of the cost of living from 5.5% in January, fuelled by the rising cost of petrol and diesel and a wide range of goods from food to toys and games.
